Marion Walker, Professor of Stroke Rehabilitation

Marion Walker is Professor of Stroke Rehabilitation and a Trustee of the Ossie Newell Foundation. Marion trained as an occupational therapist but has worked as an academic stroke researcher for the last 25 years. Her research covers all areas of stroke care, across the whole pathway. She has particular expertise in the conduct of randomised controlled trials and was appointed Director of Stroke Rehabilitation for the Stroke Research Network in 2005. In recent years Marion has developed her expertise to include implementation research and led a theme of four studies with portfolio funding of £4 million. Marion is a NIHR Senior Investigator and is a Trustee of the Stroke Association.

She was awarded an MBE in 2012 for her work in stroke.
